The Proteco Shark underground kit is one of our most discreet systems to power a single gate.
It is also super quiet making it our top recommendation for underground automation.
The Proteco Shark motor mechanics are buried within secure galvanised steel underground foundation boxes for ultimate waterproofing and durability.
The fluid-grease lubrication system and the built-in thermal protection ensures a long-lasting working life in any weather conditions without the need for periodic maintenance.
The operators are non-reversible and therefore don’t need the inconvenience or expense of an additional electric lock to keep them closed. However, with this in mind it is always recommended to install ground stops in the opening and closing position.
The 24V version is suitable for intensive use and it can be equipped with a backup battery in case of power cut.
Limited Warranty - 3 years on motors, 1 year on other components. See T&C's for more info.
The Proteco Shark underground foundation box is installed beneath the gate at the foot of the hinge pillar.
The minimum distance between the vertical centre line of the hinges and the inner face of the pillar is 65mm. There must also be at least 58mm between the lid of the foundation box and the bottom of the gate.
Before purchasing this kit it is important to note your gate achieves the minimum cleranace as detailed above.
If fitting underground drivers to wooden gates it will be necessary to clad the gate bottom edge with metal to spread the load and to give something to attach the motor shoe. If you don't, the push/pull from the high torque will eventually split the wood. Some additional fabrication/welding may be necessary to connect the drive shoe to your gates.
Most electric gate motors require a physical stop at the end of the opening and closing cycle. Gate Stops provide resistance to the motors so they know they've reached either the open or closed position. Without Gate stops the motors will over extend during their operation and the mechanism will eventually fail. When assessing your gate-way it is important to check you can install physical stops in both the closing and opening positions. A Common reason why gate stops cannot be installed is because of a sloping driveway or the gate is raised significanlty off the ground. If you cannot install something to provide resistance at either end of the motors cycle then you will require a specialised ram with in-built mechanical stops.
